Match report Another 18 points in the bag despite an indifferent performance.

Another toss won meant we inserted the opposition again and opted to chase on a greenish looking wicket with quite alot of grass on it.

The opposition only really had one good batsman who we dropped twice, which cost us a dearly as he was their top scorer with 90. We bowled well but fielded awfully as we dropped 6 or 7 catches and let the opposition get away from us at a time where we should have tightened our grip!

They ended up getting 229 when we should have restricted them to around 175.

The Fives innings got off to a flying start with Nick Rotsey getting 20 off of the second over but then he top edged a pull shot in the following over. Niel Brathwaite followed shortly after courtesy of a good catch at gully.

It was left to the youth, Josh Peters and Cameron Eccles to consolidate the innings and they did just that with a partnership of 119. A newly revitalised Ian Rotsey then came in at the departure of Josh after a fighting 31 and helped Cameron reach triple figures for the first time as a Fives player and then smashed a few himslef, seeing the side home with a big six over the sightscreen.

A special mention goes to Cameron's fantastic knock and to Josh's invaluable innings of 31. A very professional run chase!

What was promising was that although we had a poor first half, we didn't let that effect the way we batted! These sort of mental skills are all the more important in the premier division where with better teams, things don't always go as you want them to. A good learning experience for the youngsters and a gritty 18 points!
