Fives and Heronians Cricket Club Won 60 runs

Match report Fives won the toss and batted on what looked to be an excellent strip. A brisk start by Uncle Yaz and the returning VJ saw 37 up in the 6th over but the introduction of Hadleigh's 14 year old legspinner put a brake on progress. He exploited the bounce well and caused problems for all Fives' batters. Mid innings acceleration came from brisk knocks from Uriel, Chirag (looking classy until an ambitious heave ended his stay) and Moshin energetically clouting one onto the roof of the wedding marquee. A total of 225 was less then had been hoped due to the batters having to deal with unaccustomed pace and bounce in this soggy season.

Excellent opening spells by Moshin and Chris Cambell were followed by Uncle Yaz and Maddo as wickets were wheedled out. Lengthy resistance was put up by Hadliegh's skipper and their young leggie. While Commander Greene rang the bowling changes, 15 overs passed with no sign of a breakthrough until Uncle Yaz came back for his secong spell to induce a great boundary catch by Streaky. With door open, Yaz cleaned up the tail with 3 for 1 off 10 balls to end with 5 for 30. Fives kept going well in the heat to maintain the pressure and collect 20 points.
