Match report F&HCC won the toss and elected to field first. The 8 men of F&H then took to the field. The opening attack of John Walters and Chirag Patel had Southend in a lot of trouble extracting pace and bounce from a normally flat Old Chigs wicket. At 1.15 our 11th man entered the fray - K Menon. There was a lot of playing and missing by the batsman and unfortunately a few drop catches when the batsman hit out. In the end we bowled our 52 overs in 2 hours 40 minutes which was a very good effort. Southend came in on the 52 overs at 144 for 7. The highlight for me was the run out by John Walters.

In reply we needed to see off the new ball but wickets were given away cheaply. At 53 for 4 we looked in trouble, a 5th and 6th wicket partnership of 36 eased the pressure although the rain was starting to come in. Chirag 10* and Steve Poulter 87* saw us home with some lusty blows before the rain really fell. Steve's knock came off 130 balls with the first 50 coming off 90 balls. This was a top effort and showed what coud be achieved if you really applied yourself.
