Match report Losing the toss was not the ideal start as on a very hot afternoon. Chelmsford obviously decided to bat but found it difficult to score against the excellent Fives opening attack of JK and James Sibley. JK regularly beat the bat and was unlucky to only get one wicket. All the bowlers bowled a good line and length and kept Chelmsford to 205 from their allotted 40 overs. One of the Chelmsford youngsters (Green) scored a very good hundred to hold their inning together otherwise I think they may have only got 160.
Fives did not get off to the best start as OJ was run out for 8 and the in form Blogg caught for 17. Jake and JK kept the scoreboard ticking along but never really got on top of the Chelmsford bowling. JK (17) hit a long hop to cover straight after the drinks break. Jake run himself out for 42 and after this wickets tumbled and the runs dried up. James Sibley tried to make a fight of it but we were always too far behind the run rate. James scored his first senior 50 playing some lovely shots. We finally got to 171 for 9 with Doig being caught last ball of the game.
