Wanstead v Fives and Heronians Cricket Club Under 13 on Mon 01 Jul 2013 at 18:00
Fives and Heronians Cricket Club Won by 30 runs
Match report
A neutral venue with a pitch fresh with fertiliser , opposition being the mighty wanstead and an Essex cup at stake .
Nothing phases our U13 team and they continued their fantastic run to lift the ECB club county cup at loughton yesterday evening .
Another assured display by the side , showing marvellous team ethic and understanding .
Losing the toss we were put into bat and started at our normal tempo . Star bat Buttleman took control and even though we lost samuel , Cayir and Kelsey to good deliveries we were still going at 10 per over when Will retired .
Stone and Dennis batted well again to put on 60 with particularly dan running well to get retired . Ollie fired some useful late runs helped by Viraj and billy
and with extras we totalled 153 for 6 in our allotted 20 .
Kelsey and Samuel opened the bowling on the money again . Harry dismissing their skipper ,caught behind superbly with keeper Buttleman standing up , the game swung favourably towards us with Tom's fifth over . Two clean bowled and a catch at long on and wanstead sit at 27 for 4 after 5 overs , a fabulous six balls .
With danger men 5 and 6 both sitting on zero the sixth over was one of the most entertaining of the season .
No. 5 takes guard , in comes skipper Samuel and bang straight back over his head one bounce 4 , second a mighty 6 in the same area , the third more of a slice high to mid off but dropped they run 2 , fourth a carved boundary . Hmmm oh dear hands on hip time with the coach wanting the ground to open , fifth extra effort by samuel and no-ball called , thanks umpire , fifth again even more effort running in and an in swinging Yorker clean bowled , great drama !!
No 6 batted well and got retired and the opposition put on a gutsy 10th wicket stand of 36 , but we managed to bowl wanstead out for 123 to win the final by 30 runs . Pyne helped by a well held catch from Gama , a clean bowled for Gandhi and stone chipped in with a wicket apiece plus an Amas run out .
Allen and Day shared fielding duties with great enthusiasm and the cup was ours .
Champions of Essex and now onto represent the county against the winners of the Middlesex section , Eastcote or North Middlesex .
A great feat lads for a club of our size well done ! As a club we are proud of you all .
