Match report A dissapointing show from the a’s saw us slump to a second defeat of the season in a game that if honest we should have won.
That is taking nothing away from Robert Clack who showed us the way as they never gave up, never looked beaten and were deserved winners.
Batting first we started well, although we looked to the big shots rather than rotating the strike and running our threes.
To be fair it was effective and both openers were retired early on. We batted in the same vein through the innings and although a late push put some runs on the board we were still looking for the back wall rather than running our oppurtunities, luckily some lack lustre fielding saw us post what was to prove a below par 109-2.
RC’s reply was always positive and attacked our score with tip and run cricket which works so well indoor and also encourages rotational play during the outdoor season.
We did thankfully, although fleetingly, show what we are capable of with some glimpses of sharp fielding and bowling.
Joes 4 wickets (including an exeptional caught and bowled) were by far our highlights of the night and although we had them 5 down, RC’s returning opening bat saw them home as deserved winners with a 50+ knock.
For me our attitude beat us here, we turned up thinking we had already won and came off second best.
Hopefully a lesson learnt and a useful motivational tool for the rest of the season.
