Match report Fives lost a game which could have gone either way but ultimately we lost for two reasons, dropped catches and not scoring enough runs in the last ten overs when well set. We were put in on a track which had juiced up under the covers following light drizzle half hour before start time and quickly found ourselves 20 odd for 3. The two form batsman in the team (quote from James Mckay), Braths (when isnt he in form) and Neary came together and rebuilt with a solid 80 odd partnership picking off the bad balls and putting the fielding side under pressure with some very quick singles. Once Neary departed Braths and Mickey Batt continued the good work with Braths making 93 and Batt with 45. However, the wheels came off in the last 7 overs where a score of 230 was looking a possibility we limped to 197 AO with two balls unused.
We took two early wickets in reply but Billericay number 4 who was a dead ringer for Notts player Samit Patel, chanced his arm and scored a brisk 68. However, the introduction of unknown pace bowlers Ross Summers and Casey Cummings turned the screw in Fives favour bowling two yards quicker than anything else on show and leaving Billericay 110 for 6. Mention also for Jake who bowled good areas with not much luck and was a cut above anyone else in the field, not sure about the hair band though. However, a series of dropped catches proved costly as Billericay 7th wicket put on 60 odd and we came up just short with a few balls left.
