Match report On a beautiful day we turned up to play with only 9 men. Neil rallied the troops and tried to look on the bright side. Win the toss and bat was the order, however, the toss was lost and we were asked to field. On a very hot afternoon this was not easy and was made worse as we had to take the field with eight men. A great start by Mirza and Brathwaite R saw Fives take 4 early wickets. Could we pull off the impossible? Our 9th man Babar joined us after 8 overs meaning that he could not bowl until the 25th over. Hornchurch's Middle order consolidated and a partnership of 100 plus ensued. A good spell of bowling by James McKay saw fives keep the score to reasonable proportions and Hornchurch were kept to a respectable 240-7, Babar taking 4-46. Fives set about the chase with a good opening partnership between Brathwaite N & McKay (35) before the latter departed. K D Bhachu came in and kept up the momentum but just as Fives were taking control he was bowled for 26. Huw Morgan joined Brathwaite and struggled to get going and departed cheaply. Brathwaite could find no one to stay with him but battled manfully to keep the target in sight. With 40 needed off 6 overs an unlikely victory was in sight. Unfortunately, Brathwaite was last out for 88 with Fives finishing on 202-8. If only for a full team.........
