Match report Fives won the toss and opted to bat first, at a Valentines Park which was a former self of the ground which once hosted first class cricket a few years back. Doigy hanging back on the back foot blasted his way to a quick 50 as Fives made a really positive start against high flying Ilford who had the look of a side who just had to turn up to win. Fives were rattling and staring down the barell at 100 for 6 with 20 overs remaining so maybe Ilford were right. However, James Mckay (99*) had other ideas with his best innings for a number of years with support from the lower order especially Abbas, enjoying the verbals as ever. 52 overs rolled round Fives were 210 for 8 with James stranded on 93. With no chance of staying up Fives batted on much to the frustration of the home side. However, some 'generous' LBW decisions meant Fives only batted on for a few more overs with the more time being used up the less time Ilford had to chase down increasing Fives chances of pulling off a shock win.

Fives had a sniff at tea and Hammad (3 for 36 off 9) meant at 6.10pm (last 20) Ilford needed 120 with 7 wickets left. However, sloppy fielding (the notable exception being Doigy one handed pluck at mid off) a few missed chances and some lusty blows from Ilford meant they ran out winners with 7 overs and 5 wickets left. A more than respectable performance with everyone seeming to enjoy themselves.
