Match report F&H suffered a truly unfortunte day. Starting with 10 men, including Uncle Yaz hauled from his sick bed, further misfortune was to follow when Faisal's family suffered a bereavement and both he and his cousin Haider had to depart at the tea interval. By this time Yaz had alredy been sent home, too ill to continue, in the hope of a recovery by next week. An abandonment (only 7 players is not allowed by the League) was only avoided when Danny Drennan's dad Mike borrowed some whites and joined in as a sub. However, he broke a toe last week and was in considerable pain which, together with the captain's innate immobility led to a lack of support for the bowlers in the field.
Despite the predictable loss, there were some good points. Lee Hilton, in his first innings for 10 years, showed signs of his class and also fielded superbly. Billy Amas took an excellent catch from a thick egde off Nigel's leggers as well as scoring a tidy 20, and Faisal looked good in a very useful last wicket stand with Danny Drennan. Having played two of the stronger teams in our division we look forward to next week's match against Loughton.
