Match report A disappointing start to the season after the Fives team managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory!

Fives won the toss and asked H&C to bat first, who in turn got off to a flyer scoring 66 for 0 after 10 overs. A great bowling spell from Jamie Porter on debut (5-1-15-0) together with an insired spell of 18 overs on his return to 2nd team cricket helped us to regain control of the game and restrict the oppo to 198 all out. The wickets were shared between Reggie who took 6 -91 carrying on from where he left off last year with his off spin and Hoops (Glyn Harding) who took 4 - 58.

What followed was a mixture of bad batting coupled with a couple of marginal umpiring decisions which went against us. The only batsman to really make his mark was Ben Briton with a crucial 68. Nick Rotsey was on the cusp of tearing the opposition attack appart before being adjudged caught at slip. This really changed the course of the innings as Fives were well set at 110-3 and not even in the last hour.

Although wickets fell regularly, it seemed that we would win right until the last wicket fell with 9 overs still remaining but it was not to be!

We really need to bounce back hard if we are to hold our premier team status this season as none of the games will be easy!
