Match report F&HCC elected to field first on a day of persistent light drizzle. Unfortunately we took to the field with only 9 men as someone was lost trying to find the ground (the opposition had no problem coming for Stanford Le Hope!). The first 10 overs with a dry ball were key and at 21 for 1 the game was nicely poised. However, we then went thru a bad spell as SLH increased the run rate and moved to 98 for 1 at the half way point. It was the introduction of the old master Yaz that enabled us to minimise the damage as he took 4-30 in 15 overs, bowling with a bar of soap and at the damper end. 182 though was a good score as it had taken us 3 hours 20 mins. to bowl the 52 overs as much time was consumed keeping the ball dry. Special mention must be made to the wicket keeping of the skipper in these conditions or the denim kid as he was popularly referred to on the day plus Mohsin who is probably going to spending Sunday unable to move after having bowled 25 overs.

In reply, again the key was the first 10 overs with the new ball which was reached for 37 for 1. Jack Jerrom hit the ball around nicely for his 37. Also Charlie Rudkin played some good shots in his 35. We left ourselves with 106 runs to chase in the last 20 which soon became 96 in 16. In the end some lusty blows from Mr Harris and Uriel meant that that we able to pass the SLH total with 5 overs to go.

A good TEAM effort on such a damp miserable day. Congratulations to the groundsman on such a good track.
