Match report F&H lost the toss and were inserted on a damp wicket. Runs were hard to come by early but thanks to some fine batting we reached 73 for 1 off 22 overs.Steady progress was then made as we moved on to 111 for 2 off 37 overs. However the last 15 overs produced 48 for 8 as no one was able to attack some tight bowling on a drying surface. With Upminster bowling their overs quickly this left them with 3 hours to chase down this total. Congratulations to Nick Tester on his fine 50 and good luck with the new jobs in Sussex

In reply, the Upminster opener was dropped early on which had a big impact upon the game. He then went on the attack and scored a quick 50 as 80 runs were scored in the first 20 overs. It looked as though Upminster were cruising to victory but a couple of quick wickets then suddenly fell which enabled us to exert some pressure and make it very difficult. At the end of the day Upminster won and should achieve promotion.

We could and should have done better particularly in the field so let's aim to finish the season on a positive note in our last 2 matches.
