Scorecard

Ardleigh Green v Fives and Heronians Cricket Club Saturday 4th XI on Sat 30 Aug 2008 at 1.00
Match was Drawn

Match report F&HCC won the toss and elected to field first on a lovely sunny day. Having restricted Ardleigh Green to 67 for 3 off 26 overs on a perfect batting track we were in a strong position. However, our fielding and moreover the catching then let us down badly. A further breakthrough would have meant that we would have been chasing 150 instead of 200. Ardleigh Green accelerated from 113 for 3 off 40 overs to 201 for 5 off 52 overs.

In reply we crashed to 14 for 4 largely due to some inept batting from the top order. I would like to elaborate further on the first 30 mins of our innings but there is a place for everything and this is not it. The skipper and Mark Wheeler then stabilised proceedings with a partnership of 41 off 23 overs. A fired up Daniel Scoulding then came to the wicket and batted with application scoring 40 (his highest score in the league). Again people gave their wicket away leaving Bob Speller (ever reliable) and Kevin Campbell to play out for the draw also securing a batting point. Poor performance lads.
