Match report Fives won the toss and batted on a firm pitch with slightly variable bounce. An excellent opening stand by Graham and Rob of 68 was broken in the 18th over having set up a platform for brisk acceleration. Following the soft dismissal of the captain for 42, Rocket Ronnie held the rest of the batting together with a well made 36. Good support from James enabled us to reach 200 but a slow over rate from Chingford and lengthy delays for numerous injuries on both sides meant that we only had 41 overs to bowl Chingford out.
Openers Sibley jr and Dayal jr with a combined age of 25 put immediate pressure on as both bowled 4 overs for 11 runs. This was followed by Stuart and Manjaj who again bowled tightly but without success. A double change to introduce wily Bob Speller and furious Knapton (furious because he copped a golden quacker) started the wickets tumbling. Middle order defiance induced the skipper to try a couple of miscellaneous overs, rewarded with a well taken catch by Wily Bob. Unfortunately the last pair managed to hang on for a draw with Manraj again bowling very accurately to yeild only 19 from his 9 overs.
This was an excellent all round team effort by a young squad (3 old gits and 8 colts between 12 and 14) against a Chingford team of adults bar one 16 year old.
