Match report Fives were pleased to be put in to bat on a dry crumbly wicket likely to become more uneven as the match progressed but were unlucky to come up against a very fine bowler in his third match returning after a stroke. Demonstrating excellent control, and movement both ways, he clean bowled 4 of the first 5 while Commander Greene surveyed the carnage from the other end. Apart from a breezy knock by the skipper (3 singles and 10 fours) the middle order collapsed to some injudicious shots and a batting point was only secured by good play from the last three in the order with Michael Knapton, again well supported by young Manraj, achieving a personal best and hitting his first six in an adult team.

A total of 142 was never going to be enough. While Lewis bowled well down the hill, Arun, bowling up the hill, struggled to find his usual rhythm and went wicketless for the first time this season. An experiment with Alex's leggers was thwarted when he too found the hill awkward. Even Manjaj, normally our most accurate bowler, found it hard and offered a couple of full tosses. Michael, bowling down the hill produced a good spell but in the end the lack of runs proved decisive.
