Match report Fives lost the toss and were put in on a damp track. A very cautious start by the openers saw only 16 from the first 8 overs, 4 of which came from wides. Haider then began to find his touch and, timing the ball increasingly well, started to take the initiative away from South Woodford. Following Robbie's departure at 40 in the 12th over, Commander Greene dropped anchor in support of Haider. On a wicket that was never easy, the stand accelerated to add a record unbroken partnership of 169.

South Woodford openers started aggressively taking full advantage of the short boundaries. Fives bowlers were hampered by a couple of sharp showers, a wet ball and run which led to over-confidence by South Woodford. Samit managed to pick up a couple of wickets in a rather variable spell and the scoring rate was not pegged back until the venerable Bob Speller appeared in the 15th over. A masterful display of 8 overs 5 for 13 followed with the initial breakthrough thanks to a fine catch by Samit running round the deep mid-wicket boundary. With no hope of winning South Woodford skipper showed exemplary defence and it took Alex's well flighted leggers to bowl the last man and clinch a 20 point win with six overs to spare. A good team effort!
