Match report Colchester won the toss and elected to bat first, but were soon in trouble losing a wicket in the first over with a direct hit run out following some agile! fielding from skipper Keith Coleman. A good partnership then followed laying the foundation for a three figure score. However, some good bowling at the end of the innings from Colin Harrod and Steve Poulter ensured that Colchester were kept just below the psychological 100 mark, finishing on 98-4.

In reply, an excellent opening partnership from openers Jon Thurston & Steve Ambridge saw F&H reach 50 in under 4 overs with both players retiring on 25. A mini-collapse ensued as both Colin Harrod and Tim Nash got themselves out but Keith Coleman scored a useful 13 to steady the ship before being caught with 15 needed. It was then left to Steve Poulter who compiled a watchful 19not out and the returning Jon Thurston who remained undefeated for a swash-buckling 35 to see F&H home with more than an over in hand.
