Basildon & Pitsea v Fives and Heronians Cricket Club Indoor League Over 40s on Fri 28 Nov 2003 at 19.00
Fives and Heronians Cricket Club Lost 3 wickets

Match report F&H won the toss and elected to bat. The loss of Steve Ambridge in the first over was a bad blow. Clive Franklin and Dave O'Mahoney (in his first over 40s match) put on 40 in just over 5 overs to create a good platform. However, the loss of Dave O'Mahoney meant that we lost our way in the middle when acceleration was called for. In the end we reached 80 off our 10 overs thanks to some lusty blows at the end.

Two early wickets put Basildon & Pitsea on the rack thanks largely to some good old fashioned straight bowling. A productive 3rd wicket stand swang the game as mis-fields became a little too common and the bowlers gave the batsman too much width. A good final over meant that Basildon required 1 run off the last 2 balls. A wide then followed and disappointingly another defeat for F&H and only 5 points. A play off place was now the target.

If we had batted 2nd or scored another 10 runs it could have been a different game but we didn't so we need to move on.
