Match report Fives lost the toss and were surprised when Gidea Park & Romford chose to bat on a green top. Their decision proved a questionable one with the opening bowlers making early inroads whilst keeping the run rate down. It developed in to one of those days in the field with numerous shots that were hit in the air failing to find a fielder.

But the bowlers continued to toil away and managed to pick up wickets at fairly regular intervals. An excellent spell from Tanzeel (1-24) and Akeel (3-20) at the death limited Gidea Park & Romford to 177.

Fives were confident going in to the chase with the wicket flattening out out towards the back end of the previous innings. However the opposition took a wicket in the very first over and the rest of the top order struggled against the moving ball. Wickets tumbled and it was left to OJ to steady the ship with assistance from Tanzeel. Both batted with maturity- regularly picking up the singles whilst adding the odd boundary.

With OJ reaching a well made 50 Gidea Park & Romford were buoyed by the wicket of Tanzeel (37). Hammad was put in early to up the run rate and this proved a good decision scoring a quick 23. With the wicket of Hammad falling the opposition still felt they were in with a chance until Akeel (16 no) dispatched one of the opening bowlers for two sixes in an over.

It was left to OJ (66 no) to hit the winning runs and see Fives home with 5 balls left to spare.
