Match report F&H lost the toss and were inserted on a damp track with some grass. JT, returning after almost a year away, made batting look relatively simple and was starting to time the ball really well before top-edging a pull. At the other end Toots batted with unaccustomed restraint but together they prevented an early breakthrough. Simran and Steve continued the consolidation and put us in a good position by drinks. Steve then accelerated beutifully and late pyrotchnics by Thuva got us past 200 with an over to spare.

Rishin and Thuva opened the bowling but both initially failed to locate the full length required in the conditions. Mark Thurston came on first change (first time he had picked a ball up in 11 months) producing some excellent deliveries and, unsurprisingly, a few wayward ones. Simran replaced Thuva but failed to repeat the accuracy of last week and was punished. Three very hard catches all went down and things were not looking good. However, a much better second spell from Thuva and some good overs by Latif (following a rather floppy opening) got us back in the game. Unfortunately another catch went down and we were unable to press home our advantage. Taking 11 points having been put in on a damp wicket was a good result, leaving us just 3 points from 3rd place in the League.
