Match report Fives lost the toss and resolved to work hard to keep Walthamstow to a low score on a decent track. Thuva and Uriel kept a tight lid on the scoring and were unlucky to pass the bat several times without getting an edge. The pressure was maintained in good spells from Joe, Rishin and Awais, and wickets were picked up at regular intervals. Towards the end an enterprising stand including ramp shots off Thuva and very energetic swinging of the bat took the initiatve away from Fives but a target of 183 was well within range.
A well-paced opening stand by Uriel and Latif got us into a decent position when the heavans opened in torrential fashion. Prompt covering of the wicket (the first time covers have been at the ground) kept the delay to 16 minutes but the loss of 5 overs left us requiring over 110 from 16 overs. Uriel fell shortly after the resumption but Latif abandoned his hitherto circumspect approach and cut loose while Awais played himelf in. After the fall of Latif, Awais accelerated with some hefty heaves supported by a brisk innings from the skipper and we got home with more nearly three overs to spare.
