Match report Fives won the toss and batted first on a deceptively benign looking pitch. It had been used three times in the previous week and proved to be very two-paced and unpredictable as we subsided to 88 all out in just 35 overs. Only a prolonged rearguard action by Portia and Rishin (again, following their heroics in support of Thuva at Walthamstow) with Tim Nash got us to that total.
The captain called for a special effort with the ball and in the field in the hopes of picking up a couple of bonus points. The response was magnificent with crushing pressure applied by Rishin, 3 for 9 off 5.1 overs, Uncle Yaz and especially Portia whose 5 for 19 - all clean bowled - included removing Upminster's 3rd team "ringer," bowled round his legs as he threatened to take the game from us. Fantastic team effort with some good catches held and excellent fielding to maintain the pressure. We are now 2nd in the League and looking forward to the rest of the season!
