Match report F&H batted first. We had a flying start with Jon Thurston (17) and Neil Braithwaite (27) batting really well. They enabled us to put on 53 runs in the first 5 overs. The loss of Jon followed next ball by Steve Ambridge meant that the innings started to stutter. Wickets tumbled and we were only able to score 13 runs in the last 3 overs. A final total of 83 looked 17 short of what is normally expected in these matches.

Basildon in reply, were soon in command at 55 for 2 off the first 6 overs despite the best efforts of Steve Poulter 2-10 off 2 overs. However a series of run outs and good catches induced a collapse that saw Basildon dismissed for 62.

A first appearance in the semi-final is now followed by a first appearance in the final of the Essex Over 40s Indoor Competition.

The final is next Friday at 9pm (a 12 over match). All spectators welcome.
