Match report Faced with a combination of a weak team, strong opposition and a delayed arrival by some of our players thanks to gas main repairs in Palmerston Road the decision to bat first was a formality after the Wanstead skipper called wrongly. Clive again started strongly only to depart to a blinding catch in the gully. Tim Nash played well as a stand-in number three taking us to 75 - 2 in the 18th over, an excellent platform for the desired 200, however, some tight bowling pegged back the middle order and the tail capitulated at speed to some very occasional left arm spin brought on to ensure we got to 175 and declared. A spell of 3 for 6 off 7 balls meant that we fell 8 short.

This week's bowling was a better effort than the previous week, although we still bowled far too many wides. John Walters' first bowl of the season was very encouraging and he took our only wicket. Ritchie settled into a nice rhythm but was penalised by some very harshly called wides.
