Match report F&H elected to bowl first on a damp looking wicket. The GPR opening batsman batted well reaching 101 for no wicket after 30 overs. However, we always felt that we had a chance early on but failed to take some hard chances (catches / stumpings). Even at 143 for 1 after 39 overs there was a chance of restricting GPR to 200. With 73 runs being scored in the last 7 overs, it meant that we were chasing 250 in approx. 55 overs. A big ask for a team that is currently at the bottom of the league and with only one player having scored a fifty all season.

In reply, 25 for 0 after 6 overs was a sound start. Then the rain came which changed the the whole game. It was hard for the quick bowlers and batsman alike to have a secure footing. The top order struggled until the pitch dried out. Some lusty blows by Raggie and Tom (Duke of Edinburgh) Mitchell assisted to go for a realistic target of 150. In the end it was down to Bob Speller and Adam Peters to see out the last few overs to enable us to gain a well earnt draw. A good effort by all the batsman in difficult circumstances.

On to next week and hopefully a change of fortunes as Chris Rotsey returns as skipper.
