Match report Fives lost the toss and with it, the opportunity to take first use of a very decent Old Chigs track. A tight opening spell by Uriel and Awais held a strong Ilford attack in check and removed the first three, Uriel taking 2 for 20 off 9. They were replaced by Narinder and son (playing his first League match) who had to contend with two very strong Ilford batters. After a tussle, both were removed, after which the next pair of bowlers maintained the pressure. Taha fulfilled his promise with 2 for 14 off 5, while Azan, another Colt playing his first match only conceded 9 off his four overs. Ilford eventually scraped past 150and were all out under 40 overs leaving Fives with 45 overs to chase down what was a a below par score on that wicket.

With little pressure, Arbaz and Narinder batted serenely in an excellent opening stand of well over 100, Arbaz making his second consecutive 50 in only his third match for the club. Once Narinder passed 50, he opened up with some rather more rustic blows to take us to an excellent 9-wicket win with 17 overs to spare. An excellent all round performance!
