Match report On a very warm day Fives won the the toss and chose to bat first. The early loss of Narinder to what the bowler described as the "ball of the match" (well, he would wouldn't he!) proved to be no setback as Aarav, Latif and Finn all batted stylishly. The introduction of 82 year old Douggie Shewring with his crafty aerial bombers disrupted the middle order with three youngsters rapidly conned out. Enter Uriel to marshall the tail and get us past the 150 mark for 4 batting points - a par score on the day. Narinder and Habib opened the bowling and managed to hit the stumps three times in the first 10 overs, and with Toby taking a smart catch behind the stumps Hornchurch were four down for 50 and struggling. A good stand repaired the damage with aggressive running between the wickets unsettling the Fives dominance. Uriel eventually removed their keeper via bat, pad, boot and then bat (bowled in the scorebook) but opener Willison remained to shepherd the tail towards a win. The return of Narinder and Habib put the brakes on and a smart piece of fielding by Finn cashed in on the pressure created by the bowlers. A fine effort by all the Colts was capped in the last over by Will taking a very difficult high catch at deep extra, looking into the sun, making it look very easy and earning us an extra bowling point. Another good week for the 4th team who are now in the top half of the table.
