Match report F&H won the toss and, predictably in the fixed-40 over format, inserted the opposition. Unfortunately our opening bowler was being driven round obscure parts of Essex because his satnav was at variance with Latif's so we had to co-opt a couple of dads as substitute fielders. Stand-in opener Taha bowled his best spell of the season with excellent support from Rishin in his first match of the summer. Both took a wicket while keeping tight control on the scoring. When Will replaced Rishin he grabbed 2 wickets in his first spell, one thanks to a very challenging catch by Lucas playing in his first ever League match to put us in a very strong position. Ardleigh Green's number 6 batted aggressively to regain the initiative before finally being cleaned up by Uriel, who took 3 for 18 from his 8 overs. Some late slogging took Ardleigh Green to 128 for 8 from their 40 overs.
F&H got off to a slow start against accurate bowling but this was not a problem chasing such a low score. Raza struggled in his new role as opener and yielded to the pressure with an unseemly slog, after which the captain ran himself out going for a somewhat hopeful second run. Unfortunately a collective madness then set in with some very poor shot selection resulting in a middle order collapse. The tail batted well but had been left with too much to do resulting in a heavy defeat. In summary, bowling, catching and fielding were good - batting poor!
