Fives and Heronians vs Brentwood.

On a cool Saturday afternoon at the paddock with the recent days of rain evident on the pitch, the F&H skipper Keith Oram won the toss and wisely elected to take the field.

The opening bowlers found no luck early on, Jerrom struggled with his rhythm on this ill-suited wicket whilst Rotsey was repeatedly beating the outside edge with no reward. A smart change brought Mckay (5-41) and White (2-67) into the attack who displayed excellent stamina bowling 39 overs between them and aside from the rare four ball, the batsman struggled to get it away. Wickets fell steadily, despite some slippery palms and with the help of a solid second spell from Jerrom (3-45) we managed to hold 10 catches and Brentwood were all out for 164 in 50.4 overs.

Chasing down this total could have proved difficult but after Brathwaite was dropped first ball of the innings he was determined to make his ‘2nd life’ count. A hard fought responsible innings from Brathwaite (71n.o) and some powerful hitting from Rotsey (33) and Apps (32) meant that the mighty F&H claim another victory and 18 points, extending their winning streak to four in a row!

Its good to see the 2’s continue to perform as a team, lets hope we can keep it up. It’s a photo finish for the Man of the Match, but I’m going with James Mckay’s 19 over choke-hold.
