Match report After being inserted to bat, our opening partnership of Robbie Sheehan and Peter Kilpatrick shared an opening partnership of 82, of which Peter made a quite wonderful and mature 53 runs, leaving to the field to a standing ovation from both teams, if only the middle order could have followed Peter's and Robbie's example, from the comfortable position of 82 for 1, we were bowled out for 147 in the 52nd over.
I am pleased to say that our bowling was far better than our batting with Shiren making a much needed early break through in the very first over and was unlucky not to pick up more than the 2 wicket's, having beaten the bat on numerous occasions of his spell with the swinging ball. Yasseem picked up 3 wickets for 39 from his 10 overs, all clean bowled. Peter picked up a deserved wicket in his second spell. our fielding complemented our bowling, really pleased with this aspect of our game.
Upminster got the required runs of 148 with 3 wickets remaining, from the final 20 overs, not as easy as it sounds, we did really well in the field. We were 30 runs short of the minimum runs required on that artificial pitch with the bat
Poor batting has been our Achilles heel all summer, and today was no different. Peter and Robbie excluded.
Special mention to Rahal and Michael who put their heads down with the bat to ensure that we did get to 147 and bat out our overs.
Man of the match was Peter Kilpatrick for a quite brilliant innings of 53 runs.
