Fives and Heronians Cricket Club Lost by six wickets

Match report Fives Under 15's over 40's failed to put a decent total together on a slow pitch at the Paddock. Despite winning the toss and having a strong side Fives failed to put enough runs on the board, Robbie Sheehan and Kevin Campbell shared top individual scores of 22, but it seemed with every effort the Fives batsmen tried to take the initiative a wicket fell. That said, credit must go to Hornchurch's bowling who consistently bowled tight enough to make things difficult.

Fives opening bowlers Jack and James bowled tight with James opening four overs going for only seven runs and Jack picking up the wicket of one of the openers in a spell of 5 overs 1 for 14. Carlos also swooped in the covers for an excellent run out of the other Hornchurch opener. Despite never looking really confortable and Greg and Kishen picking up a further two wickets, Hornchurch were able to cautiously edge to victory. Fives should have been much the stronger side, but our batting let us down on the day. All credit to Hornchurch, who played the better cricket on the day, and played the game in excellent spirit.
