Match report Another famous victory - (Kindly submitted by F&H stalwart Derek Maddison)

My quick view from the middle (as player and umpire!). Wicket soft and spongy, needed rolling, very slow, popping - usual thing at Met Police. 10 men per side. Mixed cloud and sun, windy. The 'North Face' jacket was in evidence again, with a bobble hat after tea!

I think Clive won the toss, anyway we got 155-6. Kevin opened, Clive no. 4, Steve Greene no. 5 with the kids spaced out in between. Steve got 60 odd n.o. with everyone contributing, even though the youngsters did not score that many, they all hung around allowing the oldies to work around them. Much mirth as Steve was lapping Travis Hussein when running three's.
Unfortunately Steve pulled a hamstring and Clive came on as runner. Steve therefore took to belting everything, hence our good score after a slow start. At tea, we thought it was a useful total providing we could hold our catches, chances guaranteed on that wicket.

We had a new bowler, Richard Charlton,he opened with Bob (who bowled 22 overs!). Hornchurch had as many problems as
us batting. Two very good catches held by Tom Childs (many jokes - not a chip of the old block, must be adopted - cannot be hereditary etc.). Bob got two wickets and the new chap got five, I replaced him to try and unseat stubborn tailenders, including Dougie! It worked, threw a couple up really high into the lower cloud levels, and both hit the stumps as I saw the whites of the batsman's eyes going for big hits.

All out 84 ish with about 12 overs to go. Much jubilation, when did we last beat Hornchurch?
