Match report With the Old Chigs track looking perfect and having lost the toss on the hottest day of the year Fives were looking to keep the opposition down to 220 to be in with a chance. Worst fears were being realised as 71 for 0 came up in 17 overs with Ritchie Charlton struggling to find his rhythm. The kindly skipper kept him on and sweating through10 overs to help him settle and pick up one of the openers thanks to a sharp slip catch by little Kev. At the other end young John Walters was struggling with the effects of a hangover but bowled his first 7 overs for 14 and with more luck could have picked up a couple of wickets. At his point, new boy Adrian Palmer got into the act, first with a run-out then with wickets in his first and second overs. After this wickets were gradually chiselled out with another run-out from a direct hit by Adrain, a second slip catch to Kev and a smart legside stumping by Tim Nash standing up to Ritchie to finish the innings in style for 197. When Fives batted little Kev took inspration from his two slip catches and batted really well with Tony Teece to put on 136 for the first wicket in the 24th over. This was followed a steady trickle of wickets but a rock-lke Commander Greene ensured there were no slip-ups as he batted through the last hour to see us home by 5 wickets with 4 overs to spare..
